Diagnostic Procedures

Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy

Bone marrow examination is a cornerstone diagnostic procedure for many blood disorders. This procedure involves:

• Aspiration – Collecting a liquid sample of bone marrow cells
• Biopsy – Obtaining a small core of bone marrow tissue

We perform bone marrow procedures under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort. The samples are analyzed for:

Stem Cell Collection

Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Collection

• Mobilization with growth factors (G-CSF)
• Collection via apheresis machine

Bone Marrow Harvest

• Collection of stem cells directly from bone marrow
• Performed under general anesthesia
• For autologous or allogeneic transplant

Plasma Exchange (Therapeutic Plasmapheresis)

Plasma exchange is used to treat conditions where harmful antibodies or proteins in the blood need to be removed:

• TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura)
• Myasthenia gravis
• Guillain-Barré syndrome
• Certain autoimmune conditions

The procedure removes the patient's plasma and replaces it with donor plasma or albumin solution.

Apheresis Procedures

Leukapheresis Selective removal of white blood cells, used for:

• Patients with very high white cell counts (hyperleukocytosis)
• Collection of donor white cells

Thrombocytapheresis Selective removal of platelets for patients with extremely high platelet counts (thrombocytosis) causing symptoms.

Granulocyte Collection Collection of granulocytes from donors for transfusion to patients with severe infections and low white blood cell counts.
